My lifestyle has changed since I joined Fitness First IOI Mall 6 months ago in June 2007.

Before joining Fitness First, I was like any hard working Malaysian running the rat race. Exercise was never in my schedule and the only form of exercise I had was pushing
the buttons on my computer keyboard. I started growing sideways and my pants started becoming tight.

It was only when I had my medical check up that
I got my wake up call. My current lifestyle has affected my health as my cholesterol level, body fat and blood pressure was on the unhealthy side. The doctor advised me to change my lifestyle to prevent any untoward incidents happening to me in the near future.

After heeding the doctor’s advice, I decided to put my priorities in order. Fitness was the first priority and what better way to start than to join the popular Fitness First Health Club.

Upon signing up at Fitness First IOI Mall,
I only did cardio exercise on the treadmill, attended Pilates and BODYPUMP™ classes. Taking up Personal Training was never my intention but after I completed the 2 complimentary personal training sessions with my appointed Personal Trainer, Jessica Ong, I found that it was a new experience and personal training would be a very effective in realising my goals of regaining my health. Thus, I decided to sign up personal training with Jessica on 12th August 2007.

The first few sessions were an eye opener. I had the full attention from my trainer and I was taught the right way to do weights, to use the machines and also what to eat. As the sessions continued, I gained a lot in terms of knowledge and I also realised that I was able to push myself more effectively with a trainer around and thus started to gain significant improvement in terms of strength and endurance.

The recording of my eating habits in the food chart also made me realise the importance of diet in addition to working out. Now, I have stopped taking fast food and have cut down on my rice portions while taking oats for breakfast regularly.

I’m fortunate to have Jessica as my personal trainer as she managed to keep me disciplined by calling me in advance just to make sure that I come for my training and motivated me by varying every training session I have with her. Her happy and positive outlook also melts away whatever stress I have from my work thus making my training sessions enjoyable and fun.

My next physical examination showed a remarkable improvement and I was very happy that I have achieved my goal and regained my health. Now, even my family and colleagues have started to notice the physical change in me. They all have said that I have toned up and look better than before. No more “perut buncit” (big stomach)!

A BIG THANK YOU to Fitness First IOI Mall and especially Jessica Ong for being a great trainer and a wonderful friend too.

Now, I am working towards my next fitness goal that is to achieve my “six pack” with the help of my personal trainer, Jessica Ong. I have come to realise when you want what you’ve never had; you must do what you’ve never done. Joining a gym is a norm but having a personal trainer is the next step in achieving my goal.
